UFC 164: Quinn Mulhern Announces Move to 155, Fighting Ryan Couture
By FCF Staff
The August 31st, UFC 164 card in Milwaukee likely has been completed, as Quinn Mulhern has announced he’s fighting Ryan Couture at the event. The bout is the 13th to be booked for the card, which will be hosted by the Bradley Center.
Mulhern (18-3) will be making his lightweight debut in the bout, as he’s decided to drop down from welterweight, following a stoppage loss to Rick Story at UFC 158 in March. The accomplished grappler had won three straight bouts with Strikeforce, prior to making his Octagon debut versus Story.
Couture (6-2) is also coming off a loss in his UFC debut, as the Xtreme Couture fighter was stopped by Ross Pearson at UFC on FUEL TV 9 in April.
Prior to the defeat Couture worked his way to a split decision win over KJ Noons at Strikeforce’ final event in January, which at the time was the lightweight’s fourth straight victory.
UFC 164 will be headlined by a lightweight bout between champion Benson Henderson and challenger TJ Grant.
