UFC 168: Rumors of Brock Lesnar’s Octagon Return Continue to Swirl

Brock Lesnar

By FCF Staff

Once again, there’s talk that Brock Lesnar might be coming back to the UFC. The rumors are swirling at a time when the Ultimate Fighting Championship has lost the services of Georges St. Pierre for the foreseeable future, and speculation continues whether Anderson Silva might call it quits after tonight’s UFC 168.

Dana White has been asked several times this week whether there’s any substance to the rumor, and the UFC President has shifted from saying he hasn’t heard anything to being coy on the subject.

In a recent report from FOX Sports.com, two UFC sources also said they had no information regarding a rumoured meeting between White and Lesnar.

More recently, Lesnar’s former foe Shane Carwin tweeted:

Can’t wait to hear the big news?!:)

@danawhite got an extra ticket for tomorrow night? I’m hearing the bitch that will solve my itch will be there.

The two fought in 2010 at UFC 116 and Lesnar came from behind to tap out Carwin in round two. Carwin retired earlier this year after incurring a rash of injuries and undergoing back surgery.

The 36 year-old Lesnar hasn’t fought since December, 2011, when he was stopped by Alistair Overeem. The pro wrestler had battled diverticulitis for sometime and announced he was leaving MMA after the loss.

While it remains to be seen if the rumours are true, as there was talk in the past Lesnar might be returning, the UFC could be willing to pay the heavyweight star a substantial amount of money. The former champ was reportedly a massive pay-per-view draw during his run with the UFC.
