UFC 172: Dana White Promises to Ban Anthony Johnson if he Misses Weight
By FCF Staff
Anthony Johnson has worked his way back to the Octagon with a six fight win streak, but if he fails to make weight for Saturday’s bout with Phil Davis, his UFC return will be a short one.
Johnson exited from the UFC in 2012, due in large part, to his persistent issues making weight. While speaking to the media about Johnson, White reportedly offered this warning to the light-heavyweight (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“If he doesn’t make weight this time,” the UFC President said, “I promise you he’ll never be back in the UFC.”
The former welterweight has won six straight fights since his submission loss to Vitor Belfort in 2012, and Johnson is coming off a knockout win over Mike Kyle.
UFC 172 will be hosted by the Baltimore Arena and the main card will be broadcast via pay-per-view.
