UFC 173: TUF 16’s David Michaud Replacing Danny Mitchell
By FCF Staff
The line-up for UFC 173 has received a late change, as the promotion has announced that Danny Mitchell has withdrawn from his bout with Li Jingliang. As a result, TUF 16 vet David Michaud will make his official Octagon debut against Jingliang at the May 24th event.
Michaud, who has gone 7-0 since turning pro in 2009, relayed the following about his upcoming debut (quote via UFC.com):
“I have been training for this since I was 15 and now that I finally got the call I am ready to show all the hard work that I have put in to get here.”
Most recently, the South Dakota fighter submitted Carey Vanier while competing for Dakota FC in January.
Jingliang (8-2), meanwhile, hasn’t fought since last April when he stopped Luke Jumeau while fighting for Legend FC. The China Top Team fighter is 4-1 in his last 5 contests.
UFC 173 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas and will feature bantamweight champ Renan Barao taking on TJ Dillashaw.
