UFC 176 Cancelled After Losing Main Event
By FCF Staff
After losing headliner Jose Aldo to an injury, and with only several weeks left to go until the August 2nd event, UFC 176 has been officially cancelled. The card had been set to go down at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California.
According to the promotion’s official announcement, Aldo’s rematch with Chad Mendes will be rebooked for another event later this year. The other bouts that were scheduled for UFC 176 will be transitioned to other, upcoming cards.
Some of the other fights that had been scheduled for the event include Gegard Mousasi vs. “Jacare” Souza, Jussier Formiga vs. Zach Makovsky, Gray Maynard vs. Fabricio Camoes and Derek Brunson vs. Lorenz Larkin.
Mendes, who was KO’d by Aldo in their 2012 meeting, has won five straight fights to lock up a rematch.
