After spending well over two years on the sidelines, Dominick Cruz has been booked for his next fight, as the former bantamweight champ will fight Takeya Mizugaki on September 27th.

The fight will be part of UFC 178, which will go down in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue for the upcoming event has yet to be determined.

Cruz (19-1), who hasn’t fought since October, 2011 due to a series of injuries, recently relayed he was interested in fighting Mizugaki. The latter has won five fights in a row and Mizugaki (20-7-2) is coming off a split unanimous decision win over Francisco Rivera in May.

Cruz had been set to return at UFC 169 in February versus Renan Barao, but a groin injury forced him to withdraw.

UFC 178 will also feature a rematch between light-heavyweight champ Jon Jones and Alexander Gustafsson in the main event. Jones won their first meeting via unanimous decision last September.
