By FCF Staff
The highly anticipated, scrap between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier won’t go down at UFC 178 after all, as the promotion has announced that an injury to Jones will delay the fight.
The grudge match was booked for September 27th, but the UFC has confirmed that Jones has been forced to withdraw due to a leg injury. As a result, the fight has been moved to UFC 182 on January 3rd.
According to a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, the light-heavyweight champ torn meniscus in his left knee, and sprained his ankle, in a recent wrestling practice.
The UFC has also confirmed that the flyweight title fight between champ Demetrious Johnson and Chris Cariaso, has been moved from the August 30th, UFC 177, to UFC 178.
The postponement of Jones-Cormier comes not long after the two have been making headlines for a pre-fight brawl and several, heated verbal exchanges.
