It looks like Fabio Maldonado has his next bout lined-up, following a trip to the heavyweight division and a loss to Stipe Miocic, as the light-heavyweight has agreed to fight Hans Stringer.

According to an announcement from the UFC’s Brazilian site, Stringer and Maldonado have verbally agreed to meet at UFC 179, which will take place in Rio de Janeiro, October 25th.

Maldonado (21-7) stepped in as a replacement for Junior dos Santos versus Miocic in May, but was quickly stopped by the rising heavyweight. Prior to that the Brazilian fighter had won three straight.

Stringer (22-5-3) will be looking to build on the split decision win he scored over Francimar Barroso at a UFC Fight Night card in March. The Dutch fighter is undefeated in seven straight bouts.

UFC 179 will be headline by a featherweight fight between champion Jose Aldo and Chad Mendes.
