UFC 180: Joe Lauzon Tapped for Fight With Diego Sanchez
By FCF Staff
As a result of Norman Parke bowing out of UFC 180 due to a knee injury, the promotion has enlisted the services of veteran lightweight Joe Lauzon, who has agreed to fight Diego Sanchez at the November 15th event.
Lauzon (24-9) will be returning to action not too long after his stoppage win over Michael Chiesa (due to a cut) at UFC FN 50, which went down last month on September 5th. The rugged fighter, who has the most fight night bonuses in UFC history, is 3-2 in his last 5 bouts.
Sanchez (25-7) is coming off a split decision win over Ross Pearson in June, but the general consensus was that he in fact lost the bout. Prior to that the aggressive vet dropped consecutive, decision losses to Gilbert Melendez and Myles Jury. Sanchez is 2-3 in his last 5 fights.
UFC 180 will be hosted by the Mexico City Arena in Mexico City, and will feature heavyweight champ Cain Velasquez taking on Fabricio Werdum in the headliner.
