Kelvin Gastelum understands that Tyron Woodley is one of the more powerful and dangerous fighter’s in the welterweight division, but he also believes the latter’s physique costs him in the later rounds.

Gastelum will face Woodley tomorrow night at UFC 183, in a bout which will feature the promotion’s #7 and #3 welterweights respectively. Recently Gastelum spoke to UFC.com about the upcoming match-up, and while discussing Woodley, here is some of what the TUF 17 winner had to say:

“Woodley is very strong and explosive, but he has too much of a muscle build up. Lactic acid build up happens to him because of all that muscle mass. I think I match up very well with him, and believe in my own right that I’m just as strong and explosive as he is. People are going to see it in this fight. I’ve been working on my quickness and my explosiveness and I think it’s going to be a great fight.”

Gastelum (10-0) has worked his way up the welterweight rankings thanks to a 5-0 run in the UFC, which includes a recent, submission win over Jake Ellenberger.

Woodley (14-3) has scored memorable wins over vets like Josh Koscheck and Dong Hyun Kim since arriving in the UFC, but has also come up short against fellow contenders like Rory MacDonald.

UFC 183 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. In the main event, former middleweight champ Anderson Silva will take on Nick Diaz.
