UFC 187: Chris Weidman Receives BJJ Black Belt as Title Defense Nears
By FCF Staff
Just a couple of weeks out from his May 23rd bout with Vitor Belfort, UFC middleweight champ Chris Weidman has been awarded his black belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu.
The decorated wrestler and 12-0 fighter announced the news via Twitter:
Got my BB from @RenzoGracieBJJ n @MattSerraUFC So honored and blessed to have these guys by my side! @Renzograciebjj pic.twitter.com/HFLPykdxeP

The 30 year-old Weidman is coming off a unanimous decision win over Lyoto Machida last July. Since then, the champion has had to pull out of two scheduled bouts with Belfort due to injuries.
Belfort, meanwhile, hasn’t fought since November, 2013, when he stopped Dan Henderson.
