UFC 189: Matt Brown Reports Nate Diaz Fight “Isn’t Happening”
By FCF Staff
Not long after the UFC announced that Matt Brown would fight Nate Diaz on July 11th, the latter claimed the bout was never negotiated with him, and now it looks like the fight’s been cancelled.
Following the bout’s announcement, Diaz relayed that he was interested in fighting Brown, but said he and his camp had never officially “agreed” to the bout. Those comments followed a tweet from Diaz, were he said he was fighting rival Anthony Pettis next.
Well, recently the following comments appeared on Brown’s official Twitter feed:
Fight against @NateDiaz209 isn't happening. I'll update you guys soon as I get the word on opponent/date/ thanks for the support as always!

Diaz has been openly critical of the UFC in the last year or so. After sitting out much of 2014 due to a contract dispute with the promotion, Diaz returned to action in December but was decisioned by now, reigning lightweight champ Rafael dos Anjos.
Pettis, it was recently announced, will fight Myles Jury at UFC on FOX 16, July 25th.
