After a proposed bout between Nate Diaz and Matt Brown fell through for UFC 189, the promotion has announced that the latter will fight Tim Means at the July 11th event.

Not long ago, the UFC announced that Brown would fight Diaz at the upcoming card. Shortly after the bout was announced, however, Diaz reported that he was interested in fighting Brown, but that the promotion never negotiated the match-up with him. Brown proceeded to confirm that the fight was not happening.

Means (24-6-1) is coming off an impressive, submission win over George Sullivan last weekend at UFC on FOX 15, which was the former lightweight’s fourth straight win.

Brown (19-13), meanwhile, is looking to rebound from consecutive, decision losses to Robbie Lawler and Johny Hendricks. The rugged fighter is currently ranked #5 in the UFC’s welterweight division.

UFC 189 will feature featherweight champion Jose Aldo taking on Conor McGregor in the main event. The card will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
