UFC 192: Dana White Isn’t Sure How LHW Title Shot Picture Will “Play Out”

Jon Jones

By FCF Staff

Following UFC 192 the consensus seems to be that a rematch between Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier is next, but the promotion’s president has stopped short of saying that’s the case.

Cormier worked his way to a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson on Saturday, in what was a thrilling and brutal fight. The bout took place not long after it was revealed that Jones has avoided a jail sentence, following his arrest earlier this year.

Since Jones was the light-heavyweight champ before his arrest, and is widely considered to be the best fighter in the sport, the expectation is he’ll be booked for a title shot next. But, when White was asked to comment on the future of Jones in the post-fight, FOX Sport 1 show, he stated this:

“I don’t know,” said White, when asked if “Bones” will fight Cormier next. “Jon has some obligations with his personal situation. I don’t know how it will all play out.”

Jones was sentenced to 18 months of probation, and 72 public speaking appearances, as part of his plea deal. The former champ decisioned Cormier this past January at UFC 182.
