Likely not too many people envisioned Holly Holm defeating Ronda Rousey on Saturday, much less with a headkick, but the new bantamweight champ says she visualized using the technique prior to UFC 193.

Holm cracked Rousey in the opening round with several stiff lefts, and in round two, she finished the fading champ with a vicious head kick. After the upset win, Holm relayed the following about the highlight reel ending (quote via UFC.com):

“I visualized if the head kick was there to go for it,” Holm said. “But we didn’t want to go out of our way searching for it. I didn’t want to force it. If it was there I wanted to take it, and it was there.”

The decorated boxer has used kicks to score victories in the past, but against a dangerous grappler like Rousey, timing the technique had to be key. Holm certainly did just that.

UFC 193 went down in Melbourne, Australia.
