UFC 193: Ronda Rousey’s Coach Hopes Holly Holm Elects to Box With Champ

Holly Holm may be one of the most decorated boxers to ever transition into MMA, but Ronda Rousey’s coach hopes she elects to box with the bantamweight champ at UFC 193.

Rousey and Holm are scheduled to fight at the upcoming event, which will air here in North America on November 14th. The card will take place in Melbourne, Australia.

Recently the promotion held a media day to promote the card, and during it, Rousey’s striking coach, Edmond Tarverdyan, said this (quote via UFC.com):

“Holly is not going to try to box with us,” Tarverdyan said. “Because if Holly is in a boxing distance and a clinch happens, Holly doesn’t want that to happen. Holly is going to be running. Holly is going to be trying to keep it at a kicking distance.

“We’re ready for everything, but if the question is, does Ronda need to prove that she’s a boxer? I hope (Holm) does box with us because Ronda can box. Ronda has knockout punching power in both hands.

“It doesn’t matter which hand she touches you with, it’s dangerous.”

Holm arrived in the UFC earlier this year, and since then she’s decisioned Raquel Pennigton and Marion Reneau.

Rousey, meanwhile, is coming off a quick stoppage win over Bethe Correia in August.
