UFC 195: Stipe Miocic Says He’s “Taking That Belt Back to Cleveland”

Stipe Miocic needed less than a minute to stop Andrei Arlovski last night at UFC 195, and the heavyweight contender isn’t holding back about the fact he wants a title shot next.

Heading into Saturday’s card, the consensus was that the winner of Miocic – Arlovski would be awarded a title shot, provided they scored a convincing win. Well, immediately after the bout, Miocic called for a title shot, and he repeated to do so in the FOX Sports 1 post-fight show:

“I said: ‘I want my shot.’ I was jacked,” Miocic relayed, when asked what he screamed at UFC President Dana White after he stopped Arlovski. “I’m here to win. I think I did enough for the shot.”

Barring some unforeseen development, Miocic will challenge the winner of the February 6th bout between champion Fabricio Werdum and former champ, Cain Velasquez.

“It doesn’t matter,” said Miocic, when asked who he’d rather face. “I want the shot and I know I can do it. I’m taking that belt back to Cleveland.”

With Saturday’s win, Miocic moved his overall record to 14-2. The only men to defeat him to date are former champ Junior dos Santos and Stefan Struve.
