After it was revealed Rafael dos Anjos will no longer fight Conor McGregor at UFC 196, Nate Diaz was widely mentioned as a possible replacement, and that prediction has come true.

Late on Tuesday, the promotion announced that Diaz will face McGregor on March 5th, and that the bout will take place at 170 pounds.

Diaz (18-10) is looking to build on the unanimous decision win he scored over lightweight contender Michael Johnson in December.

McGregor (19-2), meanwhile, knocked out Jose Aldo that same month to become featherweight champion.

UFC 196 will be hosted by the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas. The lightweight champ dos Anjos was forced to drop out of the bout due to a broken foot.
