UFC 197: Greg Jackson Says Jon Jones is “Really Focused” on Upcoming Scrap, Despite Latest Legal Issues
By FCF Staff
Although Jon Jones has been making headlines in recent weeks due to his latest legal troubles, the fighter’s coach says the former champ remains focused on the task at hand, defeating Ovince Saint Preux.
Jones was arrested last month and spent some time in a detention center, after being cited for several traffic violations in Albuquerque. The incident occurred not far out from when Jones was supposed to fight Daniel Cormier on April 23rd. Since then, the light-heavyweight champ has gone down with an injury, and Jones will now face OSP.
Recently Jones’ coach, Greg Jackson, appeared on “The MMA Hour”. While discussing the renowned fighter’s state of mind, Jackson said this (quote via MMA Fighting.com):
“He’s really focused,” Jackson said. “It was an unfortunate situation. Everybody kind of being a fault a little bit, but ultimately the responsibility is Jon’s. So, it was a bad situation. But, he came out of there really focused, really positive. That’s the thing with Jon. As long as he’s razor focused he’s a forced to be reckoned with. He’s really focused right now.
Jones’ UFC 197 bout will mark the first time he’s fought since January, 2015, when he decisioned Daniel Cormier.
