UFC 199: James Vick Sees “Nothing But Blue Skies in Front” of Bout With Beneil Dariush

James Vick celebrating his victory

By FCF Staff

James Vick’s rise up the lightweight ranks has been hindered by injuries in recent years, but the talented striker is eyeing a top ten spot, after UFC 199.

Vick is scheduled to face Beneil Dariush tonight at the Los Angeles Forum, who is currently ranked #10 in the UFC’s 155 division. Vick, who has gone 5-0 since he joined the UFC in 2013, is currently sitting outside the top 15.

Recently the 29 year-old spoke with UFC.com about tonight’s bout, and while discussing his career, Vick stated:

“I believe I should be farther in my career but the injuries have really plagued me,” Vick said. “I would be dumb not to take this fight. There’s nothing but blue skies in front of this win. This is life changing to get in the Top 10.”

“I’m going to be out striking him on the feet. It’ll cost him and he’ll gas himself out,” Vick added. “Of course he’s going to go for takedowns because his weapons on the feet are limited.”

Vick (9-0) competed at UFC 197 in April and earned a UD win over Glaico Franca. Dariush (12-2), meanwhile, was submitted by Michael Chiesa at UFC on FOX 19 that same month.
