After it was revealed that Chris Weidman will no longer fight Luke Rockhold at UFC 199, Michael Bisping said he’d be willing to face the champ on short notice, and the contender’s got his wish.

Following Weidman’s withdrawal from the June 4th card due to a herniated disc in his neck, UFC President Dana White has announced that Bisping will be his replacement. White announced the news on ESPN SportsCenter.

Rockhold and Bisping fought before in November, 2014, and the latter lost the fight via submission. Since then, Bisping (28-7) has won three straight bouts and is coming off a decision win over Anderson Silva.

Rockhold (15-2), meanwhile, won the middleweight title in December by stopping Weidman.

UFC 199 will take place at the Forum in Inglewood, California.

(Update: During the SportsCenter segment, White reported that “Jacare” Souza was considered the front runner to face Rockhold, but that the middleweight injured his meniscus during his win over Vitor Belfort at UFC 198.)
