The MMA world was delivered quite the surprise, when it was announced that Brock Lesnar was returning to the cage at UFC 200, and will face Mark Hunt. But, the former heavyweight champ’s revealed that initially, he wasn’t planning to fight again until late, 2016.

The promotion recently held a media call to promote UFC 200, which will take place on July 9th at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. During the call, Lesnar reported the following (quote via MMA Junkie.com):

“We had talked and maybe thought we could put something together by November for New York,” said Lesnar, while referring to UFC 205, which will take place in Madison Square Garden.

“Hell, I’ll fight whenever the money’s right, and we took it to the 11th hour, and that’s where we’re at,” added the pro-wrestler. “It was short notice for me and for him, so we’ll see what happens on the 9th.”

Lesnar will be fighting for the first time since 2011 when he takes on Hunt. In the decorated wrestler’s last bout, he was quickly taken out by Alistair Overeem.
