UFC 200: Conor McGregor Tweets He’s Back on Card
By FCF Staff
After his withdrawal from UFC 200 last week made headlines for several days, Conor McGregor is saying that he’s been rebooked for the July 9th event.
The UFC elected to pull McGregor from the upcoming card, after he refused to attend all the promotional appearances tied to the event. McGregor argued that he’s done his part, in terms of promoting fights in the, and asked for an exception so he could focus on training.
Dana White has repeatedly said that fighters are obligated to promoter their bouts, but recently the following tweet appeared on the Irish star’s Twitter account.
Happy to announce that I am BACK on UFC 200!
Shout out to @danawhite and @lorenzofertitta on getting this one done for the fans. #Respect— Conor McGregor (@TheNotoriousMMA) 25 April 2016
The UFC has yet to make any announcement regarding McGregor’s status, and a follow up report from MMA Junkie says sources cannot confirm that anything has changed.
McGregor was initially booked to rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 200, who submitted him in a welterweight contest last month.
