UFC 200: Dana White Notes “Anything is Possible” in Daniel Cormier – Anderson Silva Scrap

Anderson Silva

Anderson Silva is a sizeable underdog heading into his bout tonight with Daniel Cormier, but Dana White is reminding folks that anything can happen in MMA…

Silva has agreed to fight the light-heavyweight champ, on just a couple of days notice, after Jon Jones was pulled from UFC 200 on Wednesday. Since the Cormier – Silva bout was announced, the latter has admitted he’s hardly been training. The former middleweight champ underwent gall bladder surgery in May.

During the post TUF 23 Finale broadcast on FOX Sport 1, White had this to say about the bout (quote via FOX Sports 1 press release):

“Joe Silva is calling him Anderson ‘the savior’ Silva now. In this sport, when the opportunity pops up, you’re crazy not to take it. Michael Bisping said it best when he faced Luke Rockhold again: ‘no two fights are the same.’ Anything is possible. DC has been through a nightmare this week. Hats off to DC, others would have broken and not taken the fight.”

Cormier hasn’t fought since October, when he earned a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson. Silva fought in February, and dropped a competitive, unanimous decision loss to Bisping.

UFC 200 will take place at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
