UFC 200: Daniel Cormier to Square Off With Anderson Silva
By FCF Staff
Dana White relayed earlier on Thursday that Daniel Cormier was still going to compete at UFC 200, and during UFC FN 90, it was announced that “DC” will in fact battle Anderson Silva.
Cormier was supposed to rematch his rival, and former champ, Jon Jones on Saturday night. But, on Wednesday it was announced that the latter has been notified of a potential anti-doping violation, and Jones has been pulled from the card. Cormier will not be defending the UFC’s light-heavyweight title against Silva, as the bout is a non-title affair.
The legendary Silva is coming off a tightly contested, decision loss to Michael Bisping in February. Cormier, meanwhile, defended the 205 belt in October, by earning a split decision win over Alexander Gustafsson.
UFC 200 will be hosted by the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
