Although Tyron Woodley has been booked to fight fellow American Top Team member Robbie Lawler, the welterweight doesn’t foresee any issues training at the renowned Florida gym.

Recently the UFC announced that Woodley will face the champion Lawler on July 30th, at UFC 201 in Atlanta, Georgia. Woodley has been training at ATT for years, but the accomplished wrestler has also been known to prepare for bouts at other gyms as well.

But, during a recent appearance on “The MMA Hour”, Woodley relayed that he will train at ATT in preparation for UFC 201, even though Lawler will be as well. The 34 year-old fighter also stated (quote via MMA Fighting.com):

“I’ve been at American Top Team since amateur,” Woodley said. “I will be the first world champion from American Top Team in the organization that started with them as an amateur from 2005, that has grown with them and grown through the tradition of the American Top Team and will bring home the UFC gold…”

“I can’t see too many guys trying to eavesdrop and be, he’s doing this, or he jammed his toe in sparring,” Woodley stated. “I don’t think that’s going to happen. We are professionals.”

When Woodley (15-3) faces Lawler (27-10), he will be fighting for the first time since January, 2015, when he earned a split decision win over Kelvin Gastelum. Lawler  earned a split decision win over Carlos Condit in his last outing, which took place this past January.
