UFC 202: Artem Lobov Argues Imitating Diaz Brothers is a Bad Idea, “They Get Hit a Lot”
By FCF Staff
Over the years, Nick and Nate Diaz have received plenty of praise for their boxing abilities, but evidently, none of it has come from Artem Lobov.
Lobov (11-12-1) is scheduled to fight the brothers’ teammate, Chris Avila (5-2), at UFC 202 on August 20th. Recently the featherweight spoke to UFC.com about the upcoming match-up, and Lobov had this to say about Avila:
“I’ve seen a few of his fights and I can clearly see that his style has been greatly influenced by the Diaz brothers,” Lobov said. “That really isn’t a style I would recommend anybody to imitate because it relies a lot on being really tough and being able to absorb punches.
“People always praise the Diaz brothers’ boxing, but they get hit a lot in their fights. They take a serious amount of punishment and it’s just their toughness that saves them. I honestly don’t know how people don’t see that.”
It should also be noted that Lobov is a teammate of Conor McGregor, who will rematch Nate Diaz at UFC 202.
Lobov is coming off a decision loss to Alex White at UFC FN 82 in February, while Avila will be making his UFC debut.
