UFC 203: Stipe Miocic Responds to Alistair Overeem’s Comments Regarding Focus
By FCF Staff
Leading up to UFC 203, Alistair Overeem has questioned whether Stipe Miocic has been truly focused on Saturday’s bout, but the new champ insists his training’s on track.
Since Miocic won the heavyweight belt back in May, by taking out Fabricio Werdum, the Cleveland fighter has attended multiple events. As a result, Overeem has questioned whether the champion has been spending too much time in the spotlight, rather than the gym.
During Thursday’s pre-fight, press conference, however, Miocic had this to say about Overeem’s comments (quote via UFC.com):
“Everywhere I go — every time I do an appearance — I have a coach or training partner with me,” he said. “Nothing’s changed with my training. I’m training as hard as I ever have before. I wish it was Saturday already because I’m ready to go.”
Miocic’s win over Werdum in May his third straight victory. Overeem, meanwhile, is coming off a stoppage win over Andrei Arlovski and has won four straight bouts.
UFC 203 will be hosted by Cleveland, Ohio.
