Although Emil Meek defeated 40 fight vet Jordan Mein in his Octagon debut this past weekend, the Norwegian fighter says it wasn’t his best performance.

Meek faced Mein on the main card of UFC 206, and worked his way to a unanimous decision win over the dangerous Canadian. While speaking to the media after the memorable fight, the 28 year-old had this to say about his performance (quote via MMA Junkie):

“Happy with it? For sure,” Meek said. “But can it be better? Absolutely. I wanted to mix more takedowns in it. He took me down in the beginning and I lost a lot of energy in that one, and I didn’t want to get taken down again. And I got a little passive and stuff like that.

“But he got tired and I managed to show that my cardio was better and that my strength was better.”

The win extended Meek’s winning streak to four and his overall record to 9-2-1. “Valhalla” was coming off a stoppage win over UFC vet Rousimar Palhares. Mein’s record now stands at 29-11.

UFC 206 took place in Toronto, Ontario.
