UFC 206: Kelvin Gastelum Cleared to Fight Tim Kennedy

Kelvin Gastelum

By FCF Staff

It looks as though Kelvin Gastelum will be facing Tim Kennedy at the December 10th, UFC 206 card after all.

Gastelum was booked to fight the middleweight contender at the upcoming event, after he failed to make weight for a welterweight contest with Donald Cerrone earlier this month. Since Gastelum did not show up for the card’s weigh-ins, however, the New York Commission suspended him for six months.

Although it was reported that the suspension was administrative, and therefore other jurisdictions could allow Gastelum to compete, the Ontario Commission announced it would honor the suspension. In a follow up report from MMA Fighting.com, however, a representative from the New York Commission is reporting that Gastelum paid a $2,000 fine, and that the suspension has been lifted.

UFC 206 will take place in Toronto, Ontario.
