Following a rumor that Cain Velasquez is withdrawing from UFC 207 next weekend, the former heavyweight champ insists he’s ready to fight and defeat Fabricio Werdum.

Recently Velasquez disclosed to ESPN that he will undergo back surgery just a few days after the December 30th card. After a report surfaced claiming Velasquez is pulling out the event, however, the AKA fighter told MMA Fighting this:

“I am. I’m fighting at UFC 207 against Fabricio Werdum. I’m in shape, I’m ready to go.

Obviously, with the past interview that I did about what’s going on with my body and everything else, somebody just thew out something that was bogus on social media, and you know how that is, everybody has a voice now. It wasn’t true. I am ready to fight. I’m ready to win.”

Velasquez is coming off a first round, stoppage win over Travis Browne in July. Werdum ended his reign as champion last June by submitting him with a third round, rear-naked-choke.

UFC 207 will take place in Las Vegas Nevada.
