UFC 210: Daniel Cormier Criticizes a “Desperate” Jon Jones For Plans to Attend Saturday’s Card

Jon Jones will apparently be in attendance at UFC 210 on Saturday, and his rival Daniel Cormier believes this indicates the former light-heavyweight champ’s “desperate”.

Jones is still serving out the one years suspension he received, after failing a pre-fight drug test for UFC 200, which was supposed to feature him fighting Cormier for a second time. The latter and reigning 205 champ  is booked to face Anthony Johnson in the headliner of UFC 210.

Recently Cormier spoke to MMA Fighting, and while discussing the fact that Jones is reportedly set to attend the April 8th card, “DC” said this (quote via Blooy Elbow.com):

“If I was suspended for anything, especially for something whatever it may have said to be, there’s no way I’m out in public,” Cormier said. “I’m staying home, I’d lick my wounds until my suspension is done, and then I’d come back out. But I think that says a lot about your character. Because are you truly sorry for what you did if you’re really still willing to prance around even though you’re still actually under suspension?”

“It doesn’t bother me, I just think he’s desperate,” Cormier added. “Very desperate. He’s like the old quarterback that was super successful in high school, and he comes back to the parties with his jacket on.”

Cormier and Jones fought back in 2015, and “Bones” defended the light-heavyweight title via unanimous decision. Jones’ suspension is set to end this summer.
