After losing four of his last five fights, Johny Hendricks decided it was time to make a change and headed to Jackson – Wink MMA for his UFC 217 camp. So far, it sounds like the former welterweight champ believes he made the right move.

Hendricks is preparing to take on undefeated middleweight Paulo Borrachinha at the November 4th event, which will take place in New York City. While discussing his recent move to the renowned, Jackson – Wink MMA in New Mexico recently, Hendricks said this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I really didn’t want to leave my kids,” the Texas fighter said. “But it’s to a point to where, do I want to just compete, or do I want to win again?”

“I sparred 12 times in a week. Sometimes, that’s what my whole camp is. By the end of the week, I’m starting to pick up things.”

“They have people that can work on you there, so after practice, you have something that’s not feeling right, they do their job, and by the next day, it’s almost healed,” Hendricks said. “That’s going to further my career, as well. Just training smarter.”

Hendricks is coming off a stoppage loss to Tim Boetsch in June, after he earned a decision win over Hector Lombard in February.
