The UFC’s marketing campaign for UFC 220 has focused a lot on Francis Ngannou, and Stipe Miocic believes the promotion wants him to lose to the rising star.

Miocic will look to defend the heavyweight title against Ngannou at the upcoming card, which will take place at Boston’s TD Garden Arena on January 20th. The champion appeared on “The MMA Hour” recently, and when Miocic was asked if he thinks the UFC wants Ngannou to win the contest, he said (quote via MMA Fighting):

“Obviously, for sure,” Miocic said. “Listen, I feel a little bit disrespected, but I’m not going to dwell on it.”

“He’s got more hype on him I guess,” Miocic also said in the interview. “The guy hits super hard. We’re making a big thing about it. I’ve fought some good guys, you know? That’s how we are. I’m not much of a trash talker I just like to fight, that’s what I do.”

Miocic, who sat out for the latter half of 2017 until his UFC contract was renegotiated, is coming off a stoppage win over Junior dos Santos in May. The fight marked the second time he’s defended the heavyweight title.

Ngannou, meanwhile, has finished six straight opponents since joining the UFC, and the feared slugged knocked out Alistair Overeem in his last bout.
