The Ultimate Championship has announced that it will hold its first event ever in Perth, Australia, on February 11th, 2018. The promotion is heading to the city for the first time, after the Government of Western Australia amended its regulations, so that MMA bouts can take place in a cage.

The UFC’s official announcement included this comment from interim, middleweight champ and Australian resident, Robert Whittaker:

“This isn’t just huge news for UFC, but for the sport of MMA in Western Australia. Finally, MMA can be competed nation-wide in the field of play specifically designed for the sport.

“Anything can happen between now and Sunday, February 11. With that said, fighting on home soil is always a dream come true and I’d love to unify the UFC middleweight title here in Australia. My next stop is New York City to be Octagon side for UFC 217 – let’s see what happens in that main event between Michael Bisping and Georges St-Pierre.”

The upcoming event will be hosted by Perth Arena. No bouts have been announced yet for the UFC 221 card.
