UFC 228: Nicco Montano’s Teammate Provides Update on Champ’s Condition

Nicco Montano will no longer fight Valentina Shevchenko tomorrow night, after being hospitalized prior to the weigh-ins for UFC 228, and her teammate’s provided an update on her condition.

Following the news of Montano’s withdrawal from the event, her teammate Steve Hanna has told MMA Fighting the following:

“She will be fine in a few days,” Hanna’s statement read. “The UFC medical team was called in to evaluate her this morning during the process of her weight cut. They determined that she had to cease cutting weight and be transported to and treated at the local hospital for issues regarding her kidney function.”

UFC 228 will take place in Dallas, Texas, and will see Darren Till challlenge welterweight champ, Tyron Woodley, in the main event.
