Recently Derrick Lewis claimed that Daniel Cormier agreed to fight him this Saturday at UFC 230, as a means to avoid another bout with Jon Jones. But the heavyweight champ says Lewis knows that’s not the case.

Lewis recently made the comments about Cormier and Jones, while speaking to the media, ahead of the November 3rd card. Cormier was asked to respond to Lewis, and this is what the champ-champ had to say (quote via MMA Junkie):

“I was never offered the fight against Jon Jones,” Cormier said. “Nobody told me to fight Jon Jones. I think Derrick has said it, himself, openly that some of the things (he says) you take with a grain of salt, some of the things you believe what he’s saying. He’s just bull(expletive) on that one.”

Jones is currently booked to fight Alexander Gustafssson on December 29th at UFC 232, which will determine a new light-heavyweight champ. UFC 230 will be hosted by Madison Square Garden in New York City.
