UFC 231 Max Holloway Vs. Brian Ortega Betting Preview

Max Holloway has been unstoppable since he lost to the “Notorious” Conor McGregor as a 21-year-old back in 2013. Since that defeat, he has gone 12 fights without losing and Holloway managed to capture the belt in spectacular fashion. His two fights against Jose Aldo are the highlight of his career so far, as he made one of the best fighters ever to step into the Octagon look average. “Blessed” is also loved by fans due to his brawling style where he will stand in the middle of the Octagon and swing with anyone. This is why true fight fans will be tuning in to see if he can retain the featherweight title this Saturday night against the formidable force of Brian Ortega.

Max Holloway has a record of 19 – 3 and is the favorite with new betting sites UK bookmakers priced at -125. Brian Ortega is not too far behind with regards odds priced at -105 so the bookies are expecting a close fight. That should come as no surprise given that Ortega is unbeaten in the UFC with a record of 14-0 and 1 no contest.

It is not the first time that these two were scheduled to fight as it was originally supposed to take place on July the 7th, 2018 but Holloway had to pull out. He had suffered from what was believed to be concussion symptoms and in a TV interview before the fight, he was slurring his words and the interviewer (Michael Bisping) even had to ask if everything was ok.

Ortega is one of the biggest rising stars in the UFC and in only 8 fights so far he has gone unbeaten which has resulted in a chance to fight for the 145-pound belt. In his last outing in the UFC, he won in spectacular fashion by beating a future hall- of-famer in Frankie Edgar by KO. It was the first time that Edgar had ever been knocked out and it showed just how much Ortega has improved his striking game. Holloway will still have a big advantage on the feet, but Ortega will be very competitive, and if he’s able to take it to the ground will cause major problems for Holloway.

It is likely that Holloway will win by KO if he’s able to keep it on the feet. No one is more dangerous with submissions, however, than Ortega and due to being trained from a young aged under the world’s best in Rener Gracie, he will fancy his chance of choking out Holloway at UFC 231.

Another fantastic fight to watch out for that’s taking place at UFC 231 is Valentina Shevchenko versus. Joanna Jedrzejczyk. This is the co-main event and is a vital fight in the career of Jedrzejczyk as she has lost her two out of her last three fights. The two have fought before in Muay Thai with Shevchenko coming out on top and bookmakers have her the big favorite at -350 to win compared with Jedrzejczyk priced at +290.
