After missing out on the 2018 campaign due to injuries, Robbie Lawler says he’s feeling like his old, optimum self, ahead of his bout next Saturday at UFC 235.

The former welterweight champ will take on Ben Askren at the event, and the fight will mark the first time Lawler has fought since December, 2017. In that bout, Lawler dropped a decision loss to Rafael dos Anjos, and he also incurred multiple knee injuries in the fight.

Recently Lawler (28-12) appeared on MMA Junkie Radio, and during the interview, “Ruthless” reported this (quotes via MMA Junkie):

“I feel damn frickin’ good right now,” Lawler said. “I don’t know when it clicked that, holy (expletive), I’m a beast again. But I am.”

“But that was always the goal – just get back to work and everything will fall into place. I just believed in myself that it was going to happen at the right time. I can’t wait to show everybody how hard I’ve been working.”

The former Bellator and ONE champ, Askren (18-0) stopped Shinya Aoki in his last fight, which took place in November, 2017.  UFC 235 will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada.
