UFC 236: Paulo Costa Says Israel Adesanya “Doesn’t Have Heart”
By FCF Staff
Israel Adesanya moved his MMA record to 16-0 earlier this month, by defeating the legendary Anderson Silva, but clearly Paulo Costa wasn’t impressed by “The Last Style Bender”.
Adesanya faced Silva in the main event of UFC 235, and he proceeded to outscore the former middleweight champ en route to a decision win. During a recent interview with Encarda, however, Costa had this to say about Adesanya and his performance (quote via MMA Junkie):
“OK that it’s Anderson, but Anderson hadn’t fought in two years, (43 years old),” Costa said. “(Silva) offered him his face. It showed that (Adesanya) doesn’t have heart, that he doesn’t have that willingness to go for the kill, to go after him.”
“I think that, if (Adesanya) gets the title, it won’t be for long. I’m on my way. I’m arriving to make his life hell, as well as (Kelvin) Gastelum’s, (Yoel) Romero’s, (Robert) Whittaker’s.”
Costa is expected to take on his fellow contender Romero on April 27th. Adesanya, meanwhile, will battle Gastelum for an interim 185 belt at UFC 236, April 13th.
