UFC 243, headlined by a fight between interim middleweight champ Israel Adesanya and champ, Robert Whittaker, finally has an official venue.
The UFC has retweeted a report from The Herald Sun, which states that the October 5th card will be hosted by Melbourne’s Marvel Stadium. The facility can hold around 60,000 fans.
UFC President Dana White was quoted saying in the story:
“I am pumped to go back to Melbourne for this massive event.
“To have two champions in Whittaker and Adesanya fighting for the title on home turf is huge.
“This will be the biggest fight in Australian history”
Whittaker (20-4) hasn’t fought since last June, when the Australian fighter earned a split decision win over Yoel Romero.
New Zealand’s Adesanya (17-0), meanwhile, won the interim belt this past April by handing Kelvin Gastelum a decision loss.
