Nothing has been finalized yet, but the UFC is working on having Colby Covington challenge welterweight champ Kamaru Usman at the promotion’s next card in New York City.

UFC 244 is scheduled to take place on November 2nd at Madison Square Garden. While speaking to the media recently, UFC President Dana White confirmed that the promotion is hoping to add Usman – Covington to the card.

MMA Fighting is reporting that one side has verbally agreed to that date. Combate was the first to report the UFC’s plans.

Usman (15-1) hasn’t fought since this past March, when he recorded a dominant, decision win over Tyron Woodley to become welterweight champ.

Covington (15-1) is coming off a one-sided, decision win over Robbie Lawler earlier this month.
