Maycee Barber’s 2020 campaign has likely come to an end, as it’s being reported the flyweight prospect suffered a complete, ACL tear at UFC 246.

During Barber’s decision loss to Roxanne Modafferi, the cage side doctor could be heard saying the fighter had incurred a partially torn ACL. But, since then, Barber’s father has confirmed to ESPN that the 21-year-old completely tore her ACL.

“We think she injured it in the first 10 seconds,” Bucky Barber said. “She stepped on Roxanne’s foot as she backed up and felt a pop. You can see the knee give out on the side. She went back and started fighting and trying to do things and I noticed she was flat in a way I’ve never seen before.”

As a result, Barber will underdog surgery soon and is expected to be sidelined for nine months. Prior to facing Modafferi, Barber had won all eight of her pro bouts.
