UFC 247: Dana White Scored Jon Jones – Dominick Reyes For The Challenger
By FCF Staff
Following last night’s bout between Jon Jones and Dominick Reyes, a lot of people have reported they believe the latter won, including UFC President Dana White.
Reyes out struck Jones in the first three rounds of the UFC 247 headliner, but the light-heavyweight champ appeared to land more often in rounds four and five. Jones also scored a couple of take downs. After the fight, Jones was awarded the decision win with scores of 48-47 48-47, 49-46.
During the post-fight presser, White had this to say about the judges’ scoring (quotes via MMA Junkie):
“The scoring was all over the map,” White said. “… Going into the last round, I had Dominick Reyes 3-1 going to the last round. My kids are terrorizing me that the fix is in, ‘How could this happen, Dad?, Reyes won that fight,’ and the list goes on and on of people who are reaching out to me. So it’s not like there’s this landslide of people saying it was a robbery or whatever. People have it all over the place.
“But the reality is, who gives a sh*t? We’re not judges. None of us are judges, the judges called the fight, and that’s that.”
Jones (26-1), who is widely regarded to be the greatest fighter in MMA, was coming off a tightly contested, split decision win over Thiago Santos in July.
Reyes (12-1) incurred his first pro-defeat to date with Saturday’s loss.
