Frankie Edgar has never been submitted during his storied, 15 year career. But, Pedro Munhoz would love to change that at UFC 251, when he faces the former lightweight champ.

Munhoz is booked to fight Edgar at the July 11th event, which will take place at Yas Island in Abu Dhabi. The bout will be Edgar’s first at 135 pounds.

Recently Munhoz spoke with MMA Junkie about the upcoming fight, and the Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu black belt said this.

“I’m fighting a legend – an OG. I fought before a veteran, a guy that had a lot of fights back in RFA – Jeff Curran. But fighting Frankie is definitely going to be something of an accomplishment.”

“I think about that every day,” Munhoz said, while referring to the fact Edgar’s never been submitted. “Frankie is a tough opponent. He’s really good. He’s a black belt under Renzo Gracie, so to go in there and be able to submit a guy that’s never been submitted in his career before is definitely a big accomplishment. And yeah, it’s going to put my name right there in part of the history.”

Munhoz (18-4) will be competing for the first time since he lost via decision to Aljamain Sterling last June. The bantamweight is 3-2 in his last 5 contests.

Edgar (23-8-1) is coming off a stoppage loss to Chan Sung Jung in December, and is 2-3 in his last 5 bouts.
