UFC 251 to Take Place on Yas Island, Three Title Fights Planned

By FCF Staff

After weeks of speculation and debate regarding the UFC’s plans to hold cards on ‘Fight Island’, it’s been announced that Abu Dhabi’s Yas Island will host four cards in July.

In addition, Dana White has announced that the first event scheduled for the island on July 11th, will feature three title fights.

Welterweight champion Kamaru Usman will face Gilbert Burns, featherweight champion Alexander Volkanovski will rematch Max Holloway, and Jose Aldo will battle Petr Yan for the vacant, bantamweight title.

According to a report from ESPN, on account of the coronavirus pandemic, Yas Island will include  “a “safety zone” of 10 square miles in which the only people permitted will consist of athletes, coaches, UFC staff and limited personnel.”

In addition to the July 11th card, events will also be held on the island July 15th, 18th and 25th.
