Sean O’Malley recorded a one-sided victory in his first title defense, and the bantamweight also avenged the only defeat on his record.

The rising star faced Marlon Vera in the headliner of UFC 299, and outscored the rugged veteran with strikes throughout, en route to a unanimous decision win. Vera stopped O’Malley in the first round of their 2020 contest.

In the co-headliner, Dustin Poirier electrified the Miami crowd by knocking out rising lightweight Benoit Saint-Denis in round two.
