UFC 309: Jon Jones Finishes Stipe Miocic, Former Heavyweight Champ Retires
By FCF Staff
Jon Jones remains the UFC’s heavyweight champion following UFC 309, as many predicted would be the case.
Jones faced former heavyweight champ Stipe Miocic in the card’s headliner, and from the onset, he outscored the decorated fighter with various techniques. In round three, “Bones” dropped Miocic with a beautifully timed, spinning back kick to the body, and finished the fight with follow-up punches.
After the bout, Jones (28-1) confirmed he is interested in fighting again and acknowledged he plans to talk with UFC officials. The 37-year-old did not explicitly say if he would fight interim champ Tom Aspinall.
The 42-year-old Miocic (20-5), who was fighting for the first time since 2021, announced the bout will be the last of his career.
