Alistair Overeem

Following Curtis Blaydes’ win over Mark Hunt in February, the UFC has announced that the rising heavyweight will face Alistair Overeem next.

The bout will be part of UFC 225, which will take place in Chicago, Illinois on June 9th. The confirmation follows a previous report from Tom Taylor.

Blaydes (9-1) faced Hunt at UFC 221, and worked his way to a decision win over the feared striker. The only fighter to defeat Blaydes to date is Francis Ngannou.

Overeem (43-16) is coming  off a vicious, knockout loss at the hands of Ngannou. That bout took place in December at UFC 218. Prior to that, the decorated heavyweight earned a decision win over Fabricio Werdum, at UFC 213 last July.
