Now that Nick Diaz is armed with a new UFC contract, the promotion has announced that he will face the legendary Anderson Silva on January 31st, 2015.

The super fight will be contested at 185 pounds and will headline UFC 183, which will take place in Las Vegas, Nevada. The venue for the event has yet to be confirmed.

Silva and Diaz have expressed an interest in fighting each other for some time, however, it wasn’t clear if and when the fight would happen.

Diaz (26-9) hasn’t fought since March, 2013, when he was decisioned by then, welterweight champ, Georges St-Pierre. After the bout Diaz announced he was taking a leave from fighting, and said he wasn’t interested in competing again unless an all-star opportunity materialized.

Silva (33-6) will also be returning from a considerable layoff, as the former middleweight champ hasn’t fought since December, when he broke his leg while facing Chris Weidman.
